D7 - Miss

Well we certainly didn't sink anybody's battleship with that miss last night. With three turnovers all at critical times, a freak of nature rookie running back in Doug Martin, and the worst sports fans you could ever hope to see cheering its no surprise that the Vikings were not able to hold up their end of the deal. As always we will move on and look to this weekend to see if we can't make some money. On a positive note Doug Martin is on my fantasy team and happened to get 34 points. Not a big deal.

Thursday Night Football

Hey all you sports fans it's time for another exciting installment of Thursday Night Football. I want to start off tonight by acknowledging the fact that we've had a few complaints stroll in through our inbox here at the offices of The Golden Goose. No no, people aren't upset that they are making too much money, but there have been a few who have voiced concerns over the timing of our picks. Some people have leagues with cutoffs for when picks need to be in others just hate waiting around for good advice. On the issue of timing I'll say this; we are a rather unorthodox picking team. While some blogs pride themselves on having picks for every game out by Tuesday afternoon The Golden Goose prides itself on picking when the time is right and the feelings are good. It's a different kind of energy at GG world headquarters and is one that does not rely on strict scheduling and superb organization. We understand this makes it difficult on those that are most important to us, namely the fans, but we need you to understand that this is how we have been able to find success over and over again. To those of you who stand by The Golden Goose's policy of posting at will, even if a pick comes 30 minutes before the starting whistle, we congratulate you on your patience and  look forward to finishing up the season with money in both your pockets and ours. To the many who have found frustration in our policies, we will begin posting all spreads for the week on Wednesday and our usual last minute write ups as they have been written. Thank you all again for sticking with us as we move through this transitional stage in the blog and best of luck this weekend!

There is a match up tonight in Minnesota as the Vikings host the Buccaneers. The spread is Vikings -6 and The Golden Goose is happy with what it sees. While this game is going to be tight on both sides of the ball the Vikings should be able to use the advantages of Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin to win by a touchdown. Tampa Bay is one of those teams that a lot of people feel have the chance to win every single time they are on the field but they just haven't proved that yet this year. They have a lot of good players but they stink on the road this year and half the teams they have beaten have been the chiefs. The Vikings have a lot to prove as they race to dominate their very close division. The Vikings are going to make a statement and they are going to make it by more than 6 points.
Drew No Fear Henningfield's pick for TNF:
Vikings -6 (2 Units)

All Picks for Week 8:

Minnesota -6.5
St. Louis +7.5
Tennessee -3.5
Green Bay -15
Cleveland +2.5
Atlanta +2.5
Seattle +2
NY Jets -2.5
Chicago -7.5
Washington +4.5
Oakland +1.5
NY Giants -2
New Orleans +6
San Francisco -6.5

Moving forward

All right everybody we've been slacking in our quantity of postings but the positive side is that we've been winning. We are now 8-3 in our picks and it feels good to be at a consistent level. This weekend there is looking to be a number of picks that I feel really good about and because we've now got some money in our pockets it's time to get some units down! I'll be posting the picks as I see them and I already plan on a pick for Thursday's game. -Drew

Monday Night Football Week 7

Hey sports fans! Well we suck at posting on time and consistently, but we have been hot nonetheless but let's see if we can actually get more picks on here. Tonight's game is the Lions vs the Bears Monday thriller! Putting a small play on the Lions. Why? Because I don't believe in the Bears yet. I think Jay Cutler is just a big cry baby and will falter tonight. Well, not necessarily falter and lose, but I don't think the Lions will lose by more than a touchdown. They have the components to win, and I think tonight we see a close game. I don't have any facts for you, just a hot hand right now that is feeling the Lions! The line is at 6.5 right now, I bought half a point because I always go on the safe side and would rather lose that little bit of winnings then everything altogether. So if you think that sucks, well go for the 6.5 I don't care, but as always best of luck and let's hope the goose is golden!

Lions +7 (1 unit) (bought .5 point)

Apology and lets move on.

Hey GooseNation. I need to apologize on behalf of the blog for not posting any picks for last week. Money doesn't come to those who wait and I unfortunately wasn't able to make my picks before the games started. Thus, we were not able to profit as a team. I promise though we are going to cash in this weekend. I'm planning on making a play on the Seahawks this Thursday night. They are playing the 49'ers who seem to have peaked. The Seahawks have linemen the size of houses, Wilson is proving himself to be worthy of a quarterback position and Seahawk receivers are working their hardest to get open for some big time scores. I'm not convinced the Seahawks will beat the Niners at home but I think they will keep it within Seven.
Seahawks 24 Niners 28 (2 Units)

(I know it doesn't mean a whole lot when I didn't blog about it beforehand because it makes me look shitty but if I was worried about my image I wouldn't post it. I ended up going 5-0 this weekend picking titans, browns, jets, packers, broncos. It was amazing and I am 9-1 in my last 10 picks. Lets make some money this weekend everybody. See you Thursday Drew N.F. Henningfield)

Monday Night Football

Are you ready for some football??? A Monday night partayyyy? Tonight sports fans we've got the New York Jets hosting the Texans for some Monday night football action. The Texans are playing absolutely out of their minds right now with zero losses on the season and big wins all across the board. The Jets, unfortunately for them, have been playing like the jets. Their quarterback is tomato gay (is it a fruit?) and can't seem to do much offensively except throw the ball to the other team. Their backup who is the crowd favorite to start isnt much better against the superbowl hopefuls the texans. Here at the Golden goose were predicting that the Texans will cover the -9 spread. Yes they are away, yes it is a ton of points, and yes, they are the better team. What I'm worried about is that Sanchez will show up tonight, and by that I mean that when Sanchez is on he is on. As much as I hate the guy he is a good quarterback when hes having a good night. Even if he has a good night tonight he has nobody to throw to on the Jets offense and will probably have a dismal performance. The pick is Texans -9 for even money. Just a Unit tonight folks. Happy winning! -Drew No Fear Henningfield

Sunday Night Game Week 5

Hey Sports Fans!

After going 3-1 in the afternoon games, not too shabby, let's add one more game for the night. The Chargers vs. the Saints. Pretty crazy that Brees is trying to break a record tonight and yet his team is 0-4. The Saints are at home, have plenty of potential to win, and I think they are finally going to dominate tonight! Watch Brees light this home game up and the Saints cover the 3 spread.

Saints -3 (2 units)

SHITSENGIGGLE!!

Dammit sports fans! woke up 15 minutes before the noon games kick off so the post is gonna be short and sweet. Ive got two units on the packers to cover -7 on the ponys and one unit on Eagles to cover over steelers, seahawks to cover over carolina, Vikings over Titans and thats it for now. Good luck everyone!

Saturday College Football

Welcome back to the Golden Goose sports fans Drew No Fear here hoping you are recovering from a wild Friday night full of bars and partying but if you are like me you instead spent all night delivering pizza. On that note let's make some money! I've got one college pick today that I think is our best chance of making some serious dough. We've West Virginia traveling to the grand state of Texas in a big match up between two 4-0 teams. What I see is that Texas' 4-0 record is not as justified. They have been able to beat up on a couple cupcake squads and are probably feeling pretty confident. With the speed of WV they will have seen their first real competition. This game is going to be a shootout as both teams have expressed a complete lack of defense throughout the season. What The golden goose is going to cash in on is the straight up win by the traveling underdogs West Virginia. Were getting a straight up line of +230 so with a couple of units down we can make some serious beer money for Saturday night. So take a ride with us and let's go WV!

West Virginia +230 (2 Units)

Thursday Night Recap

Proof that the gut feeling method has worked at least once for the new blogging season! Although we won't exactly be needing that front end loader to scoop up our cash money from last night we still were able to net some coin putting 2 units on the Rams and only one on the over. At first the over seemed quite promising, the rams were scoring touchdowns and fieldgoals were scattered in between, a perfect recipe for an over. Then Kolb got sacked 9 times, Amendola BROKE his collarbone and Bradford went for a career record of incomplete passes in a row, this is like your grandmas recipe for salmon patties when it comes to the over score. They managed a mere 20 points total. I knew better than that but hey it wasn't all my fault. Stay tuned either this afternoon or tomorrow when we post the picks for this weekend! I think there's going to be a lot of good action in this Sunday's NFL games and I also want to dabble in some College games on saturday as well. Happy Betting -Drew NF Henningfield

Week 5 Thursday Night Football

Hello sports fans! Drew 'No Fear' Henningfield here to bring you my pick for the Thursday Night thriller in St. Louis tonight. First on the agenda however is a most sincere apology on behalf of myself. I know Odin already posted an apology but it is mainly my fault that our blog was not functional for the better part of a year. I'm sorry I let you all down and most importantly I'm sorry you weren't able to cash in on any sports picks! Now that we got that out of the way I'm going to bring you my pick for tonight. As the Arizona Cardinals (4-0) visit the St. Louis Rams (2-2) there are a couple things to take in mind for this evenings event. First of all is the gut feeling factor, a little trick my grandma taught me at a young age and something No Fear Drew has been able to cash in on frequently. Tonight I'm feeling that the Rams will be providing the Cardinals with their first loss. That being said Vegas has basically chalked this up as a 50/50 game with an opening spread of around 1 (depending on where you get your lines). What I see is that the public does not agree and are heavily favoring the Redbirds. This is good news for us betting a unit on the Rams to cover +2. I also like the idea of betting the over (39.5) here. "But Drew are you nuts? This is going to be a defensive game where running backs are going to have to grind it out inch for inch yard for yard" And while I agree that the Cards will necessarily be bringing the pressure onto a mediocre Bradford I believe in his ability to adapt. When you rush time and time again you will get in the quarterbacks face, sack him, talk about his momma, but eventually he's gonna get a read one play and torch you for a 65 yard TD to Amendola who is going to be in the lineup tonight. With the Cardinals entirely capable of putting up 20 points in this game I think that the Rams will give us a great showing, against a traveling, worn out defense who just had to play for their freedom in order to get the edge on the dolphins. I know this was a long post but it's my first in a while so I'm still working on streamlining but in summary the picks for tonight are as follows : Cardinals 21 Rams 23
 Rams +2 (2 Units ($20)
Over 39.5 (1 Unit ($10)

Game week 4

What up sports nation? Time to get back into the groove of things and start putting money in your bank! With Oktoberfest only a couple of days away, we're looking to make some crazy money to be able to rage all night. Lets start with this weeks Thursday game to get the ball rolling! Browns vs Ravens- Spread: 12 The Browns have a very fitting name, because they are just crap! 0-3 is really no surprise and you can bet the Ravens are going to make sure to stomp all over these guys. Hopefully it's not one of those games where they think it's going to be so easy and the Browns decide to play 110% and actually keep it close. We think not. Stack that money on the Ravens covering 12 and you'll be good to go! Ravens: -12 3 units

We're back!

Just this week, Drew "No fear" Henningfield had the great idea of getting the goose back up and running. Why is this you may ask? Well, because Drew has been kicking ass and taking names when it has come to betting the NFL so far this season. Why just yesterday he easily won the over bet on the Pats vs. Ravens game, and he didn't have any mercy on Vegas today having the Packers cover the spread against the Seahawks (although that one was a nail biter). Now add in our powerful analysis of the games when we collaborate and you're in for a winning season! Just take a look to the left and see our awesome records. Yeah we took some time off, that's because we were raging and didn't feel like doing write ups. But don't worry, we're back and you'll be winning again in no time. The goose is golden!Picks will be up for Week 4, then we're raging at the one and only Oktoberfest!

May 6th Picks

Hey there sports fans! So the festivities are over, and nothing cures a hangover better than putting down some solid bets! Lets get this train rolling again and see if we can pick up some W's!

Reds vs Cubbies
Reds +118

The first game of the day, and the play is towards the Reds. Yes, Garza for the cubbies is ranked in the top 20 of the NL, however, the cubbies just can't seem to win when he's pitching. It's crazy, but they just can't. Then when the other pitcher comes up to the mound, the stadium goes quiet, the cubbies burrow in their holes hoping to hibernate, because they know Volquez is looking to poach! He's played the cubbies 3 times, but in that 3 times he struck out 19 with an awesome .96 ERA. Look for that continued dominance today, as one team looks to string 3 wins together. Not a big stats fan, because lots of times than it just contradicts other picks, but Divisional Underdogs last year would've won you 1.4 units.

Result: Reds 5 Cubs 4 WON
There ya go reds! Took down them cubbies just like they should!

Tigers vs Blue Jays
Tigers +104

On a win streak of 3, these cats have found some of their bats again and hope to keep it up tonight. They could be in some luck, because the Jay's pitcher has a little bit of trouble facing these beasts of the jungle. A couple of injuries are also hurting the Jays chances, so take a little lookski at the Tigers and put a little something on these guys for a victory. This also follows the underdog system.

Athletics vs Royals
Royals +114

Home underdogs, gotta love em! If you bet only them last year, you would've seen 47% wins, and made some money! Well, that's not the only reason why this came is awesome, because stats are stats, need some more than that! The Royals are hitting like royalty and leading the AL with runs. Although the A's pitcher is pretty damn good, he's 1-2 with a 7.85 ERA against the Royals. So this is some great value in this bet, and look for a winner in the Royals. This follows the underdog system as well.

Nationals vs Marlins
Marlins RL +140

The Marlins pitcher should be able to orchestrate how he wants the game to go against the Nationals who are on a loss streak of 3 right now. Put that in with Zimmerman's struggles against the Marlins, and the fact that the Marlins are 38-19 at home against the Nats, and the fish should get a comfortable win!
